What these measurements mean
The 6° setting is the registered component reference from Part 11. The slider applies a relative coronal change about the existing component pivot. This is a teaching convention, not a patient-specific mechanical-axis measurement.
Motion plays from 0° to 130° using the approved authored trajectory. Contact, clearance markers and ligament attachment distances update at each frame. The reference reconstruction is independently seated at that same angle; the color change does not compare flexion against extension. This range is illustrative and is not limited by computed ligament forces. Motion shows both distal and posterior native references.
The flexion view holds the knee at 90° and varies rotation from 3° internal to 5° external relative to the native-registered component orientation. Both angle settings persist when switching views. Green femoral references show the distal region in extension and posterior regions in flexion. Restore both reference angles to isolate either adjustment.
Each number is the smallest sampled vertical clearance between that femoral component compartment and the bearing. Matching colored markers indicate the sampled locations. The femur translates vertically until at least one compartment contacts the bearing; the other may separate. The selected component angle is retained.
Ligament response is the straight-line distance between the centroids of the modeled femoral and tibial/fibular attachment rings, compared with the reference reconstruction at the same flexion angle. It is not the wrapped fiber length, tissue strain, slackness or ligament tension. Colors indicate the direction of distance change only, without forcing opposite responses on the two sides. The optional shape response straightens the middle span with greater attachment separation and adds a small single outward bow with reduced separation. The attachment regions remain unchanged. This bounded visual deformation is not calculated tissue mechanics. Both ligaments can lengthen together when the contact solver lifts the femur.
These are geometric surface clearances, not distracted surgical gaps, ligament tension or measured laxity. The MCL and LCL follow their bone attachments; forces and tissue strain are not calculated. Native references use the approved model. Implant dimensions and preparation remain illustrative.
